Chapters include Breakfast which has cereals, pancakes, French toast and omelets, to smoothies and milks, muffins, healthy snacks. Lunches have salads, sandwiches, savory bites, dips and spreads. Salad dressings, sauces and toppers. Dinnertime has soups, stews, pizza, pasta , burgers, casseroles and one dish wonders and a big chapter on Sweet treats with puddings, cookies, bars, frozen treats, cakes and frostings. And finally plant powered challenges and support chapter with tips and plans. There is also a guide to parties both hosting and attending.

I whipped up the Sneaky chickpea burgers within minutes. Burgers from the book below with a healthy helping of basil. Hubbs has been devouring these as snacks with his evening tea, while he preps for his weekend hike.

The cashew ginger sauce was obviously going to be a hit because you know, anything nutty and ginger sauce! I added some bean sprouts and carrots and healthy garnish of pepper flakes to round it off as a meal.

This book is for healthy vegan comfort food for families with kids. Hence, you will find a lot of simple and easy everyday recipes that are kid approved. There are also tips for meal planning, batch cooking, packing school lunches. The book does not have adventurous or exotic food or complex recipes. Its a great guide for vegan families that are starting out or a great addition for tips, easy meals, tackling situations for the experienced. Thank you for writing this wonderful book Dreena. Some of those tips and suggestions for parties, travel, packed lunched are universally helpful with or without kids :).

My favorite vegan family recipe is a marinated tofu, noodle, ginger, bell pepper dish called Oriental Salad from The Horn Of The Moon Cookbook by Ginny Callan. Yum! The best part is that my picky kids adore it too.
Hard to choose but ONE of our favorite dinners is Dreena’s smoky sweet potato and black bean salad served on a romaine leaf “taco” shell with a healthy dollop of guacamole. We call them dinosaur tacos and my 6 year old boy devours. : )
The part about no exotic ingredients caught my attention. I am an adventurous eater, my husband and son not so. They are only semi-vegan, so anything I can cook that meets their approval, I am all for. This book sounds perfect for us.
