I whipped up the Sneaky chickpea burgers within minutes. Burgers from the book below with a healthy helping of basil. Hubbs has been devouring these as snacks with his evening tea, while he preps for his weekend hike.

The cashew ginger sauce was obviously going to be a hit because you know, anything nutty and ginger sauce! I added some bean sprouts and carrots and healthy garnish of pepper flakes to round it off as a meal.

This book is for healthy vegan comfort food for families with kids. Hence, you will find a lot of simple and easy everyday recipes that are kid approved. There are also tips for meal planning, batch cooking, packing school lunches. The book does not have adventurous or exotic food or complex recipes. Its a great guide for vegan families that are starting out or a great addition for tips, easy meals, tackling situations for the experienced. Thank you for writing this wonderful book Dreena. Some of those tips and suggestions for parties, travel, packed lunched are universally helpful with or without kids :).

    I have a picky toddler, so it’s really hard to find a meal that he will eat, but that isn’t boring for my husband and I. Pasta fits the bill because I can serve my son his without the sauce. Tofu or seitan stir fry is another good choice. Again, my son likes his meal dry, so I set aside some tofu and veggies for him before adding the sauce. (Sigh. Where did this kid’s taste buds come from?)

    Our favorite vegan meal has to be Tofu, Peas, and Pepper Stir Fry with a peanut butter, hoisin, and soy sauce. Yum. It’s the best over vermicelli!

    So many delish recipes to choose from- yay Dreena! Peanut Passion Sauce, Avocado & Pinto Bean Enchiladas, Broccoli Cashew Teriyaki Tofu Stir-fry, Sunflower-Lentil Pie w/Sesame Tahini Sauce….okay, I’m going to stop now. 🙂 So many wonderful dishes!

    Some good-looking recipes here, the polenta pizza crust especially! For our family it would be hard to pick out one favorite, but I certainly do love a stir-fry with tempeh, red bell peppers and pineapple over brown rice.

    NO SPECIALTY INGREDIENTS! That has me sold! Being a starving college student living in Chicago (the most expensive city in the US), I really can’t afford exotic spices or a something that costs $10.99/lb.
    That being said….my “family” meal is my all-time favorite GF banana pancakes, doused/swimming in almond butter and jelly with extra nanner slices. I live alone, so I cook for one! Unless you count the fur baby, that is.
